Finding the Perfect Prom Dress

Prom season is finally here for all the seniors! One of the most important parts of prom season is of course finding the perfect dress. Sometimes finding the dress can also be difficult to do. When I first moved to the States, one of my first thoughts was the excitement that I would attend an American Prom. It’s an event that most seniors go to for the reason of it being our last dance. There is one chance to go to senior prom and everyone wants to wear a dress that is both memorable and timeless. No one wants to look back at their well-documented time in high school and think of the tragic mistake they made with their dress choice.

Over the past couple years, the dresses have become both elegant and more sleek. Often, there are dresses that are a form-fitting silhouette in one colour with a slit. These are a couple of the trends that I love. I have linked the dresses on each picture but a majority of them are from David’s Bridal.

Burgundy

This color has been a staple prom dress color for several years and it just keeps coming back. I think the reason why it’s so popular is that it looks great on everyone’s skin tone and can be worn in any style.

Florals

Though at first I wasn’t a huge fan of this trend, it’s grown on me. There are so many different ways to donne a floral prom dress. There are larger floral patterns that look perfect on the skirt or just some floral applique on a simplistic dress.Screenshot 2018-04-15 at 2.43.08 PMScreenshot 2018-04-15 at 3.03.06 PM.png

90’s Style

This is honestly my favorite. I am a huge fan of the classic 90’s movies and therefore love the dresses that are in them. This style means spaghetti straps with a square neckline and I just love how timeless this look is.

Whatever dress you choose, make sure you truly love it and feel good while wearing it. The most important thing is that you are comfortable and confident. Personally I bought a dress online and got it adjusted to fit perfectly. This would also work if you bought the dress in person.

Good luck with buying your dress!
